Impressionistic oil painting, Landscape in Australia. 

This is a very nice painting by the well known painter Alfred Calkoen, (1917-1999)

It was painted in the early 50’s and is signed in red paint in the left lower corner Alfred Calkoen. The painting is a standing rectangle and depicts an impressionistic landscape.
It is a wonderful painting with warm and natural colors clearly painted by a skilled painter. Not many of these style paintings are known by this artist. Calkoen began painting more graphical later on in his career.
I believe this painting is depicting a landscape somewhere in Australia. The canvas is in good condition, with a bit of paint loss on the left side that isn’t to obvious because of the style used. There some crackle. The painting is framed in its original frame.
Calkoen’s paintings have been sold by Sotheby’s Australia as well as other auction houses around the world.
