    Dutch Artists: AA MC Bolk

    Adolph Bolk 1888-1960

    Bolk was a flamboyant Dutch painter. He painted portraits, still life paintings and landscapes and was a member of the Amersfoortse Art society. He died in 1960 in Utrecht.

    Dutch Artists: Leonora van Bijsterveld

    Leonora Bijsterveld (1888-1955)

    Leonora Bijsterveld was a female Dutch artist. She was a painter, water colorist and sketch artist and student of Bernard Schregel. She also participated as a member in several art ‘sociëteiten’ like “the Haagse Kunstkring”. Bijsterveld was mainly known for her still life paintings

    Dutch Artists: H W Eckhardt

    Christiaan Hendrik Eckhardt (1883-1946)

    HW Eckhardt was a Dutch painter, etcher and sketch artist. He mostly became known because of his harbor and waterside paintings near the area of Rotterdam and he also made a fair share of still life paintings. HW Eckhardt is found in ‘Scheen’ page nr 300.

    Dutch artists: C.Dake

    Carel Lodewijk Dake 1857-1918.

    Carl Dake SR lived and died in Amsterdam, the capital of The Netherlands. He was a painter, a drawing artist, etcher and reproduction graphics artist. In 1890 he was honored with the position of master teacher at the “Rijksacademie”  in Amsterdam. He made a lot of etches after Rembrandt and Rubens, as a reproduction artist.He had his education in Amsterdam at the  “Rijksacademie van Beeldende kunsten” and the “Koninklijke academie voor schone kunsten”  in Antwerp, Belgium.

    Later he became a member of “Arti et Amicitae” in Amsterdam and “Kunstgezelschap M.A.B” a society for fine arts  in Amsterdam.

    Dutch Artists: Pauline Zwaal

    Pauline Zwaal 1906-1993, was a student at the “Dag tekenschool”, in Amsterdam under guidance of Jan Uri. At the Rijksacademie she was tutored by J Bronner, JH Jurres en HJ Wolter. She was a painter, pastellist and drawing artist.

    Zwaal painted landscapes, portraits, figures in a naturalist style. She was a member of ‘the kring van tekenaars’. Her paintings have been auctioned by Sotheby’s Amsterdam and by Christie’s. Some of her watercolor paintings can be found at the archive of Amsterdam. Some portraits of Ro Morgendorf can be found in the collection of the Jewish Museum in the Netherlands. Pauline shared an atelier with her well respected and liked Jewish colleague Ro Morgendorf at the Reguliersdwarsstraat in Amsterdam.

    Zwaag did not leave behind a big oeuvre of paintings, her pieces are considered scarce.
